What is ALLTHINGSMEDIA Venture Capital Forum 2008?

Co-hosted by Springboard Enterprises and the She Made It initiative from The Paley Center for Media, ALLTHINGSMEDIA: 2008 is a Venture Capital Forum for all Media: From Television and Radio to Digital Media and Emerging Platforms. The Forum showcases investment-ready, high-growth media companies led by women, and includes a recruiting, screening, training and coaching program involving media executives, investors, attorneys, industry experts, business development professionals, and seasoned entrepreneurs. The eight-month program culminates in the Forum event on October 30, 2008 at which selected companies will present their business opportunities to angel, venture and corporate investors.

Who are the Entrepreneurs?

  • Women-led media-sector businesses seeking institutional/corporate rounds of equity capital
  • ALLTHINGSMEDIA is the first-ever venture capital forum exclusively for women in all sectors of media - including television, radio, print, digital media, mobile, video games, search, social networking, e-commerce, online advertising, outdoor, animation, software and others businesses making up this ever-expanding sector.

What are the Criteria?
All companies should have:

  • Built the basic business strategy and, at a minimum, a working prototype/beta of product/service
  • Demonstrated a qualified and profitable market opportunity
  • Achieved significant milestones, such as product development, distribution or licensing contracts, grants, beta clients, customers, revenue, strategic partnerships etc.
  • Assembled a credible core management team with demonstrated ability to execute
  • A defensible competitive advantage
  • A woman in a key management position holding a significant equity stake

  • Leading venture capitalists, angels and corporate investors
  • ALLTHINGSMEDIA: 2008 Forum Committee members and sponsors
  • Major Media Companies and Corporate Strategic Partners
  • Corporate Strategic Partners
  • Business, media and financial press
  • Service providers, such as law firms, accounting firms and business consultants who participated in the recruitment, screening and coaching processes

What are Presenter Application Deadlines and Fees? Registration Fees for Attendees?

  • March-May 15, 2008 – Apply online here
  • Payment of $50 non-refundable application fee at time of submitting application
  • June 2008 – Payment of registration fee if selected to present at ALLTHINGSMEDIA: 2008. The Presenter fee of $700 includes admission to Bootcamp, and access to investors, lawyers, accountants and business development professionals who will serve as coaches and also attend the Forum. Fee does not include travel and accommodations associated with participation in the Interview, Bootcamp, Walk Through, Technical Run Through and Forum. These fees are the responsibility of the Presenter.
  • Attendance is open to all Investors (venture, angel and corporate). See table below for attendance fees. Coaches are offered a discount and members of the press may attend for free but must register prior to the event in October.

    What is the Recruitment and Screening Process?

    Following the launch events, women entrepreneurs are encouraged to apply online here. A screening committee of investors and service providers will conduct a three-step selection process resulting in the selection of 25+ women-led, emerging-growth companies to attend the Bootcamp and present at the Forum.

    What is Coaching and Bootcamp?

    Companies selected to present at ALLTHINGSMEDIA: 2008 will participate in our coaching program which includes a one-day orientation Bootcamp, and subsequent work with a dedicated team of coaches from the venture capital and entrepreneurial communities who assist selected companies in preparing the presentations for the Forum.
